Auto mode is now backed by Cursor Router and can optimize for multiple routing modes, including balance and intelligence. Admins can enable the router, choose defaults, restrict optimization modes, and allow or block the underlying models used by the router.
Developers get a simpler way to stay on the cost-versus-quality frontier without manually switching models all day. Teams get a cleaner control plane for standardizing AI coding behavior across editors, mobile, CLI, and internal SDK integrations.
Select Auto in Cursor and choose the optimization mode that fits the task, then let the router pick the model path. Teams and enterprise admins should review router defaults and guardrails in the dashboard before rolling it out broadly.
