JetBrains IDE Badges Land on LinkedIn

2026-06-19 · jetbrains

JetBrains announced a LinkedIn Connected Apps integration for its IDEs on June 17. The free plugin lets developers connect real JetBrains IDE usage to LinkedIn profile statements. While not a coding-agent release, it is a notable developer-tool update because it turns practical IDE activity, including AI-assisted workflow signals, into a portable professional credential.

Key Features or Updates

The first version ships as a standalone plugin for IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, WebStorm, PhpStorm, Rider, GoLand, CLion, RustRover, and RubyMine. DataGrip support is planned later.

Impact on Developers

Developers can show practical tool usage without manually writing skill claims. JetBrains says the next version will improve how IDE usage, including AI feature usage, is represented.

How to use it

Open a supported JetBrains IDE, go to Settings and Plugins, then install the LinkedIn Connected Apps plugin from Marketplace. Connect your LinkedIn account when you are ready to publish the generated IDE usage statement.
