The big shift is that OpenAI models, including GPT-5.5, can now run on Amazon Bedrock in limited preview. OpenAI also says Codex can be configured to use Bedrock as its provider, and Bedrock Managed Agents are arriving with OpenAI underneath.
This lowers friction for teams already standardized on AWS because they can use OpenAI tools without reworking security, billing, or procurement flows. It also makes Codex more practical for enterprise software engineering workflows that need tighter governance.
Start by checking AWS Bedrock access and then configure Codex to use Bedrock as the provider. If you're building agents, test the limited-preview path first and verify your deployment, identity, and data-handling requirements before rolling it out wider.
